An Iconic Expression of Stellenbosch Terroir Crafted from an ultra-low-yielding, high-density single vineyard in the Polkadraai Hills, the Raats Eden Cabernet Franc 2022 is the pinnacle of precision winemaking by Raats Family Wines. This highly exclusive release showcases the purest expression of Cabernet Franc—100% varietal, grown on decomposed dolomite granite soils and hand-harvested for optimum quality. On the nose, expect an intricate tapestry of dark berry fruit, Morello cherries, and floral hints of violets, interwoven with subtle notes of star anise and ground fennel. The palate is both poised and powerful—linear and precise, yet wonderfully elegant—delivering concentrated layers of black fruit and a signature mineral edge that lingers long after the last sip. Elegant now, with the structure to age beautifully over the next 10+ years, this world-class wine has earned its place among South Africa’s finest. Ideal for pairing with refined dishes such as venison loin, beef filet with red wine jus, duck breast with plum sauce, or even ostrich carpaccio. Limited allocation. A wine for collectors, connoisseurs, and memorable occasions.

The wine lingers with hints of ripe nectarine and apricot and zesty lemon. Will benefit from cellaring for 5-8 years. Perfectly paired with South African west coast mussels, white fish with a beurre blanc sauce, spicy butternut squash soup, mild Indian curries.

Rock of Eye is a term long-used by tailors, who create beautiful garments by feel rather than precise measurement or method. The colour is deep opaque. The nose is expressive with a complex array of berry fruits and savoury notes. The combination of black and red current brings the wine to life with dark chocolate, cedar and fynbos aromas complement the fruit. The elegant palate shows the pepper spice with the mulberry and cherry fruits and finishes dry with a touch of juiciness. A full-bodied wine with complex layers of fruit, juicy tannin and a dry finish. As the maiden vintage, this wine is showing tight, dry tannin at this youthful stage and carries an element of excitemnt to see how the wine evolves with maturation.

2025 Kokerboom displays the typical waxy, lanolin characters often associated with Semillon, but this year, the aromatics also have a gingery, spicy aspect, with some tropical granadilla undertones. On the mouth, the tannins and phenolics seem to be some of the most refined and elegant we have tasted from this vineyard. Overall, it is a very fresh version of this vineyard.

In 2024, Palladius displays an incredibly bright colour for a wine from 24 months of ageing. The inclusion of more acidic and lower alcohol-driven varieties has contributed much to the increased freshness of the resulting wine. This vintage displays a lime zesty and green apple entry of aromatics and a line of salinity that stretches throughout. On the palate, the tannins present themselves incredibly refined and balanced, intertwined with fresh acidity and a long-lasting aftertaste. Potentially, the wine of the vintage!
