A large number of Watershed’s performances are played each year at wine farms in the Cape and they were inspired to do a collaboration of two arts : music and wine making. Together with their friend, Danie Steytler Jr from the iconic Kaapzicht Wine Farm, they have worked on creating wines that represent the style, quality and durability of their music. This Chenin Blanc is partially Old Vine Chenin that brings intensity and complexity to the final product. Beautifully crisp and invigorating with each sip. The song ‘Letters’ is a song about love and the written notes between two people.

All grapes on the estate are hand-picked. Once received in the cellar, the grapes are gently transferred by means of gravity to both stainless steel and cement vessels for fermentation. A period of cold soaking follows, which enables rich extraction of colour, elegant aromas and bright flavour. Extended maceration follows at the conclusion of fermentation, which assists in providing the wine with soft texture, increased colour intensity and complexity.

This maiden 2025 Twiswind vintage displays limey and zesty dynamics with fresh Granny Smith apple and peach skin aromas. The intense palate and textural aspects somehow dwarf the aromatics, as the wine is built up from the structural mouthfeel and tension of tannins. The acidity is firm, and this wine needs time .

This 2025 Treinspoor starts out with some darker graphite and dried fig aromas, transcending into violets and perfumes that transform into pencil lead aromas. It is one of the most lifted versions, and the purple hue also suggests a new definition of Tinta Barocca, or at least for us. The tannins are multi-layered and dense with a firm finish. This maiden 2025 Sonvang vintage displays Mediterranean rosemary and herbal aromas, tangled with bright red fruit. The wine is youthful and embryonic and hosts a slight perfect reduction that will carry it into the future. The powdery and firm tannins have class and elegance and are knotted and stitched together with the acidity to produce enormous length to the wine. This wine needs time, and we are delighted with this maiden release. Single-varietal Grenache (maiden vintage).

This 2025 Skurfberg vintage displays some riper tropical fruit alongside the usual Granny Smith apple fresh greener flavours. This vintage however, has some viscosity to it, balanced by a very bright and long acidity finish. This is a more linear version of the vineyard expression, and the wine should fill out with time in the bottle.

The 2025 Skerpioen displays peach and citrus flavours and a touch of tropical aspects, migrating to the trademark salty brine characteristics associated with this vineyard. This 2024 vintage has a slightly lower acidity than usual, and the aromatics suggest it can be enjoyed earlier. The Skerpioen is one of our white wines that are the first to be ready for enjoyment in our range of whites.

This 2025 Rotsbank bottling displays gunflint and seaweed aromas with tropical granadilla secondary flavours. There is a line of green tea, and the tannin dries out at the end of the palate. This year is marked by incredible length and elegance on the palate. It is one of the wines that can be slightly reduced and shy on release, and we recommend that the wine be allowed to aerate if opened early. It is a very linear and firm style of Chenin. .

2025 Kokerboom displays the typical waxy, lanolin characters often associated with Semillon, but this year, the aromatics also have a gingery, spicy aspect, with some tropical granadilla undertones. On the mouth, the tannins and phenolics seem to be some of the most refined and elegant we have tasted from this vineyard. Overall, it is a very fresh version of this vineyard.

This 2024 Columella vintage displays strawberry aromas transitioning to dark cherry and floral perfumed aromatics. Over time, the trademark violets and perfumes will develop further; the wine is very compact. Its tannin dynamics are similar to those of the 2019 vintage. The wine needs time.

Rock of Eye is a term long-used by tailors, who create beautiful garments by feel rather than precise measurement or method. Elegant honeysuckle aromas followed by ripe melon and nectarine aromas. Finishes with the richer honeycomb, orange zest flavours while cream and cardamon lingers in the background. The palate is full of melon and nectarines with an underlying fresh zest. It is satisfyingly refreshing and elegant with a lingering spicy finish.

Rock of Eye is a term long-used by tailors, who create beautiful garments by feel rather than precise measurement or method. The colour is deep opaque. The nose is expressive with a complex array of berry fruits and savoury notes. The combination of black and red current brings the wine to life with dark chocolate, cedar and fynbos aromas complement the fruit. The elegant palate shows the pepper spice with the mulberry and cherry fruits and finishes dry with a touch of juiciness. A full-bodied wine with complex layers of fruit, juicy tannin and a dry finish. As the maiden vintage, this wine is showing tight, dry tannin at this youthful stage and carries an element of excitemnt to see how the wine evolves with maturation.

Medium ruby, with dark pink rim. Strawberry and damson with subtle cardamon notes that typify the variety. Engaging notes of fresh berries and dark plums add immediate appeal. The medium palate shines with satin texture and beautifully refined tannin and then leads to long tapering finish leaving pleasant echoes of raspberry and plums. Pale gold in colour with vibrant green tinge. Lemon blossom and mandarin notes combine on the nose, while a touch of brioche hints at barrel fermentation. Lively acidity and lemon zest add zip to the palate after which white peach lead into a generously round mid palate. The finish is taut and crisp leaving one with a clean, mineral lift. The wine offers a complex nose showing quince, white peach and yellow apple, with fenugreek spices give more dimension alongside the mineral intensity of the wine. The stone fruit character follows through onto an exceptionally balanced, very delicate and fine textured palate showing a peach-melba character with an exquisite length and freshness. The wine lingers with hints of ripe nectarine and apricot and zesty lemon. Will benefit from cellaring for 5-8 years. Exceptionally intense and complex on the nose with blackberry, black cherry and bramble in abundance and subtle hints of forest floor, dark chocolate, aniseed and spicy tobacco. The walk in the Black Forest continues with blue and blackberry dancing on a tight rope with focus and concentration, following through onto a perfectly balanced, fine-grained, velvety palate. The finish lingers with hints of fresh mint, cinnamon and perfume. Complex and structured. 53% Cabernet Franc; 36% Malbec; 5% Merlot; 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot.
